Sin can be fun in the moment, or maybe even a season, but it’s also so harmful. It’s fueled by selfishness and it makes a mess of our lives. Sin is actually an archery term, and literally means “missing the mark”. God has designed us to be like him, and anything that pulls us away from Him is sin. Now there are plenty of lists in the Bible, like the 10 Commandments, that can enlighten us to specific sins, but the closer we get to God, the easier it is to spot sin will become. Surrendering our SINS to God is vital. God is not a killjoy in the sky trying to keep us from having pleasure or fun, He truly desires what’s best for us. So when he says not have sex with anyone but your spouse, whom you married, it is honestly what is best for you. When he says not to steal, it is for the benefit of you and others. SIN is destructive. We must learn to surrender our sins to God so that we may live free. We must trust that what he desires for us is best.
