How He Loves Us – Lyrics and Chords – John Mark McMillan – David Crowder Band – Kim Walker

This is possibly the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. This song truly broke me down the first time I listened to it. The meaning is so simple, yet SO powerful! and not only that, but the story behind the song is also amazing!! Oh How He Loves Us! It is an absolute honor for me to post the lyrics and chords to How He Loves (Us). P.S. Kim Walker’s version is CAPO 5, if you want to play in that key.

Song: How He Loves (Us)
Written by: John Mark McMillan
Performed By (all seperately): John Mark McMillan, David Crowder Band and Kim Walker

Verse 1:

He is jealous for me
Love’s like a hurricane, I am a tree
G                                                                              Fmaj7
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realize just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

C                                    Am7
Oh, how he loves us oh,
Oh, how he loves us,
How he loves us all

C Am7 G Fmaj7 (2x)

(Yea/That) he loves us,
Oh how he loves us,
Oh how he loves us,
Oh how he loves.

Verse 2:

So we are his portion and he is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in his eyes,
G                                               Fmaj7
If grace is an ocean we’re all sinking.
So heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest.
G                                                                                        Fmaj7
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets when I think about the way…

I hope you enjoy the song! the only difference in the versions I noticed is in the second verse lyrics (David Crowder says “unforeseen kiss” instead of “sloppy wet kiss”). I have all three versions from YouTube posted on the sidebar, the one with John Mark McMillan also tells the story behind the song, so I encourage you to listen to that. Oh how amazing He (Jesus) loves.

@Michael Actually the song was written by John Mark McMillan, and He does use the lyrics “Sloppy wet kiss” in his original song. In the David Crowder Band version though, it is “Unforeseen kiss”, so I do appreciate you helping out!

    God Bless!

  4. Michael says:

The correct lyric is “Heaven meets Earth like an unforseen kiss.” When I read sloppy wet kiss, I had a pretty good laugh! Hehehe. I’ve loved this song since I heard it my church’s worship band play it, and was lucky enough to see David Crowder play it live this past summer. God bless!

I love god!!!! I wish people would know him better and get to know him. People are right though, this song makes you feel better. My favorite song is Our god is Greater, it has everything he did that was a miracle. I cant tell you how much I love HIM. Im glad I can express it in a song, such as this. Love you, so does god!!!!

  10. Marina says:

Sometimes non-Christians can’t understand why Christians love God so much, and then you let them hear a song like this, it’s how we feel, and the creeping suspicion that they might be missing something comes in. Songs honest like this just glorify God, and that’s why we love then so much.
