When you grow up in the church, like I did, you become familiar with the wonderful stories of the bible. But there was one huge thing that I overlooked for years…and when it finally stuck, it changed my life forever: God thinks about me…not only that; God deeply loves and wants a relationship with ME.

In Psalms 139:13-18a, we see King David praising God about this same revelation:

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
How precious are your thoughts about me, -O God.
They cannot be numbered!
I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!

You see, God has had innumerable thoughts about me, even before I was born. And I know that is the same for each of you. Jesus went to the cross to create the path to have a relationship with you. God has been watching and waiting patiently for each one of us to finally come to him. So…Go.

In God’s Love and Grace,

Colton Jansen

A few years ago, I was having a difficult time letting go of some of my sins. While I was praying, God showed me a vision:

I was out in my church parking lot, but I wasn’t alone. What stood before me was a large magnet. But not just any magnet, this one was in the shape of a cross.

The sins I struggled with were in my hands, and they were being pulled to the cross, but I kept holding on to them. It took so much effort for me to keep these sins from flying to the cross, but these were my sins to bear…then I heard a small, yet powerful, whisper. It said:

“I paid for those sins already. Let go.”

I loosened the grip in my hands, and no later did I watch these sins fly immediately to the cross, and stay there. Afterwards, I felt the warmth God’s grace surge across my body as I was weightless.

What sins are you holding onto? What fears and doubts will you just not let go of? The blood of Jesus has made the cross a magnet for your sins, and Jesus is just waiting for you to let go.

Take some time to search your hearts and see what you are holding onto. Confess these to God, trust him, and then, simply, let go.

At times, I can go days without really dwelling on how great Jesus loves us. The following song is a simple, yet so powerful reminder. If you ever wonder how deep the father’s love for you is. Read or listen to the song below:

How Deep The Father’s Love For Us Chords

     D Em D G D Asus-A
How deep the Father's love for us, how vast beyond all measure
     D Em-D G D A D
That he should give his only son, to make a wretch his treasure
                       Em-D G D Bm A
How great the pain of searing loss, the Father turned his face away
    D Em-D G D A D
As wounds which mar the chosen one, bring many sons to glory

     D Em D G D Asus-A
Behold the man upon a cross, my sin upon his shoulders
 D Em-D G D A D
Ashamed, I hear my mocking voice call out among the scoffers
                    Em D G D Bm A
It was my sin that held him there until it was accomplished
    D Em D G D A D
His dying breath has brought me life; I know that it is finished

 D Em D G D Asus-A
I will not boast in anything: no gifts, no power, no wisdom
  D Em-D G D A D
But I will boast in Jesus Christ; his death and resurrection
                        Em D G D Bm A
Why should I gain from his reward? I cannot give an answer
    D Em D G D A D
But this I know with all my heart: his wounds have paid my ransom

564259_3016217570564_249294556_nOften there are pointless posts on Facebook that just waste peoples time. But the following one is a great conversation claimed to be by someone most of us are familiar with. Regardless, it is a great piece that I thought I would share with you all. Enjoy.

The Student and the Professor Conversation

“Professor : You are a Christian, aren’t you, son ?

Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, you believe in GOD ?

Student : Absolutely, sir.

Professor : Is GOD good ?

Student : Sure.

Professor: Is GOD all powerful ?

Student : Yes.

Professor: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to GOD to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But GOD didn’t. How is this GOD good then? Hmm?

(Student was silent.)

Professor: You can’t answer, can you ? Let’s start again, young fella. Is GOD good?

Student : Yes.

Professor: Is satan good ?

Student : No.

Professor: Where does satan come from ?

Student : From … GOD …

Professor: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?

Student : Yes.

Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it ? And GOD did make everything. Correct?

Student : Yes.

Professor: So who created evil ?

(Student did not answer.)

Professor: Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?

Student : Yes, sir.

Professor: So, who created them ?

(Student had no answer.)

Professor: Science says you have 5 Senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son, have you ever seen GOD?

Student : No, sir.

Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your GOD?

Student : No , sir.

Professor: Have you ever felt your GOD, tasted your GOD, smelt your GOD? Have you ever had any sensory perception of GOD for that matter?

Student : No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.

Professor: Yet you still believe in Him?

Student : Yes.

Professor : According to Empirical, Testable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says your GOD doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?

Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.

Professor: Yes, faith. And that is the problem Science has.

Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?

Professor: Yes.

Student : And is there such a thing as cold?

Professor: Yes.

Student : No, sir. There isn’t.

(The lecture theater became very quiet with this turn of events.)

Student : Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 degrees below zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.

(There was pin-drop silence in the lecture theater.)

Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?

Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?

Student : You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light. But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and its called darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it is, well you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?

Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man ?

Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.

Professor: Flawed ? Can you explain how?

Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue there is life and then there is death, a good GOD and a bad GOD. You are viewing the concept of GOD as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing.

Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?

Professor: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.

Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?

(The Professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going.)

Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor. Are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher?

(The class was in uproar.)

Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor’s brain?

(The class broke out into laughter. )

Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established Rules of Empirical, Stable, Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?

(The room was silent. The Professor stared at the student, his face unfathomable.)

Professor: I guess you’ll have to take them on faith, son.

Student : That is it sir … Exactly ! The link between man & GOD is FAITH. That is all that keeps things alive and moving.

I believe you have enjoyed the conversation. And if so, you’ll probably want your friends / colleagues to enjoy the same, won’t you?

Forward this to increase their knowledge … or FAITH.

By the way, that student was EINSTEIN.

Was this student really Eistein? I don’t know. There seems to be great skepticism about that. But that is besides the point. The link between man and God IS faith. We need it to see God. May we all have eyes to see.

The following is a beautiful song of grace, by Hillsong United, on their latest album Zion. Listen, read the lyrics, enjoy and be blessed.

Verse 1:

Grace what have you done

Murdered for me on that cross

Accused in absence of wrong

My sin washed away in your blood

Too much to make sense of it all

I know that your love breaks my fall

A Scandal of grace, you died in my place, for my soul will live

Oh to be like you

Give all I have just to know you

Jesus there’s no one beside you

Forever the hope in my heart

Verse 2:

Death where is your sting

Your power is as dead as my sin

The cross has taught me to live

And mercy my heart now to sing

The day and its troubles shall come

I know that your strength is enough

A Scandal of grace you died in my place, for my soul will live

And it’s all because of you Jesus

It’s all because of you Jesus

It’s all because of your love that my soul will live

I hope you were blessed by this song as much as I was. So many of these lyrics pierced straight to my soul.

The following are some hilarious quotes of kids in church I thought you might enjoy:

“3-year-old Reese : ‘Our Father, Who does art in heaven, Harold is His name. Amen.”

“A little boy was overheard praying: ‘Lord, if you can’t make me a better boy, don’t worry about it. I’m having a real good time like I am.’ ”

” After the christening of his baby brother in church, Jason sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car. His father asked him three times what was wrong. Finally, the boy replied, ‘That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home, and I wanted to stay with you guys.’ ”

” One particular four-year-old prayed, ‘And forgive us our trash baskets as we forgive those who put trash in our baskets.’ ”

” A Sunday school teacher asked her children as they were on the way to church service, ‘And why is it necessary to be quiet in church?’ One bright little girl replied, ‘Because people are sleeping.’ ”

” A mother was preparing pancakes for her sons, Kevin 5, and Ryan 3 The boys began to argue over who would get the first pancake. Their mother saw the opportunity for a moral lesson.. ‘If Jesus were sitting here, He would say, ‘Let my brother have the first pancake, I can wait.’ Kevin turned to his younger brother and said, ‘ Ryan , you be Jesus !’ ”

“A father was at the beach with his children when the four-year-old son ran up to him, grabbed his hand, and led him to the shore where a seagull lay dead in the sand.. ‘Daddy, what happened to him?’ the son asked. ‘He died and went to Heaven,’ the Dad replied. The boy thought a moment and then said, ‘Did God throw him back down?’ ”

“A wife invited some people to dinner.. At the table, she turned to their six-year-old daughter and said, ‘Would you like to say the blessing?’ ‘I wouldn’t know what to say,’ the girl replied. ‘Just say what you hear Mommy say,’ the wife answered. The daughter bowed her head and said, ‘Lord, why on earth did I invite all these people to dinner?’ ”

Kids are such a spring of joy. I hope these quotes brought a smile to you today.

In God’s love and grace,

The Bible is full of passages that tell us how our attitudes should be. One of my favorites has to be in Philippians 2. This passage gives us the best example; the attitude of Christ.

Philippians 2:3-8

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death– even death on a cross!”

If Jesus could set aside his rights, his nature, and become human, and die in the place of men. Sinners. How can we ever boast in anything but Christ?

My prayer for us all is that this scripture would seep into our hearts, and grow in us a spirit of humility. That we would begin to reflect the attitude of Christ.

In God’s love and grace,

“The generation that will change the world is the generation that the world can’t change!”

The preceding was a quote I heard from a pastor this week, and it really stood out to me. If we can be a generation that won’t bow down to this culture, and be one that will stand up and stand out, we will be able to change this world. We cannot sacrifice integrity for the things of this world.

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. -Romans 12:2

The generation that will change the world...not of this world

I hope this thought sticks out to you, and that we may all strive to be unchanged, and uncompromised by this culture.

In God’s love and Grace,

Ephesians 2:8-9

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God– not by works, so that no one can boast.”

This is a good scripture to remind ourselves to keep our hearts in check. If we keep this in our hearts, we should never come across “mightier than thou”. Although, be careful not to take it to the extreme that we don’t have to do anything for Christ; we do. Action is the fruit of faith, not the source. But faith without action is dead; just like a tree that doesn’t bear fruit.

I hope this scripture can speak to you today, and stay fresh in your hearts.

In God’s love and grace.
