Throughout my whole life there have always been those “BIG” temptations that I’ve seen on the horizon…but to be honest, avoiding these hasn’t ever been too difficult. It has always been the least likely temptations that I have fallen to.
I believe this is the case because the “BIG” temptations are so obvious, and easy-ish to prepare for. But the least likely temptations sneak up on you when you are not prepared. It’s easy to avoid something when you know its coming, and not so much when you don’t.
So then what can we do to prepare for these “unlikely” temptations?…Well, we need to always stay alert.
Beware of thinking you are safe in any area of your life, because the area you drop your guard in will be the area in which you are attacked. It is futile to try to predict such temptations, we just need to rely on God’s strength and stay alert.
A great thing that Oswald Chambers Stated is that: “Unguarded strength is actually a double weakness, because that is where the least likely temptations will be effective in sapping strength. The Bible characters stumbled over their strong points…”.
So simply we need to beware of the least likely temptations (like we need to beware of the undercurrent) and we should not feel safe in any area of our life unless it is shielded by the power of God (1 Peter 1:5).
