I often find myself trying to measure my “success”. Now in some cases this is not a horrible thing, but when it comes to what God has called us to, well, it is just a distraction from God. I find that when I am concerned about the success of the work I am called to, I begin to worship the “work” instead of God. This is an easy trap of pride to fall in-to. Really, the only concern a Christian “worker” should have is their concentration on God.
In the ministries God has called us, we should not look at them as a reflection of ourselves. There is no tool of measurement that can measure the success of our work for God. We just need to trust in the Lord that if we do our part, He will do His. If we do get caught up in the “success”, that should be a clear sign to the fact that we are veering off track. We need to work for God and His glory! If we recklessly obey God, that is true success.
