I have noticed that many people who come to this site are looking for the lyrics to the hymn Living For Jesus. I personally had never heard or read it until the other day, but when I did, I found that it captures the very essance of my heart for this site, which is to encourage people to live their lives for Jesus. So I thought I would share this hymn with you that touched me so. If you don’t know how the music goes, I encourage you to just read it like a poem, it is still just a beautiful.
Living For Jesus (words by Thomas O. Chisholm, music by Carl H. Lowden)
1. Living for Jesus a life that is true;
Striving to please him in all that I do,
yielding allegiance, glad hearted and free,
this is the pathway of blessing for me.
O Jesus, Lord and Savior, I give myself to thee;
for thou, in thy atonement, didst give thyself for me;
I own no other master, my heart shall be thy throne,
My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ for thee alone.
2. Living for Jesus who died in my place,
bearing on Calvary my sin and disgrace,
such love constrains me to answer his call,
follow his leading and give him my all.
3. Living for Jesus wherever I am,
doing each duty in his holy name,
willing to suffer affliction or loss,
deeming each trial a part of my cross.
4. Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
my dearest treasure, the light of his smile,
seeking the lost ones he died to redeem,
bringing the weary to find rest in him.
I hope you found this hymn inspiring as I did. Christ gave his life for us, and took our debt upon himself. We owe it to Him…even more, it is our obligation to live our lives for Him. (Click here to hear the song on YouTube.)
Thank you for giving the words to this wonderful hymn of the faith! We sang it in church when I was young and it came to mind this morning after a quiet time of prayer and Bible reading. Seeing it on your website is an encouragement to me. God bless you!
